    Solo, light luggage, going central?

Take the M11 metro (IST) or M4 metro (SAW). Fastest, cheapest, most predictable.

  2. 02

    Family or 3+ bags?

Use BiTaksi or the official rank. Door to door, room for luggage, no transfers.

  3. 03

    Late arrival, tight budget?

Havaist (IST) and HAVABUS (SAW) run 24/7 with luggage racks for ~₺200.

  4. 04

Going to the Asian side from SAW?

M4 metro to Kadıköy + ferry beats any taxi for time, money and views.

Eight things every traveller should know

Always check the meter

Look for "taksimetre" on the dash. It must read the starting tariff before the trip begins.

Have small TL on hand

For motorway tolls and first-time app rides. ATMs at arrivals give better rates than money changers.

Download offline maps

Save Istanbul in Google Maps offline before landing. Roaming can be patchy in tunnels.

Tap to ride

Most metro and bus turnstiles accept any contactless bank card. No need to buy a token for short stays.

Free 90-day e-visa

Many nationalities qualify online before travel. Check evisa.gov.tr — never buy from third-party sites.

Ask for the receipt

Say "fiş alabilir miyim?". The printed receipt shows the route and fare in case of dispute.

Share your live location

Send a WhatsApp / Telegram live location to a friend on long airport runs — peace of mind, costs nothing.

Tipping is optional

Round up to the nearest 10₺ for taxis. Bus and metro drivers are not tipped. No service charge.
