Airport Istanbul · Independent transfer guide · No commission
Landed at Istanbul Airport.
Here's your taxi or transit.
Your independent Airport Istanbul taxi and transfer guide. Compare three options at a glance — official taxi ranks at IST and Sabiha Gökçen (SAW), ride-hailing apps (BiTaksi, Uber, iTaksi), and the metro/coach network. No bookings, no commission. Just clear info from a traveller who's been there.
Updated
Use only the official rank
- Follow the "Taxi" signs after customs. Never accept rides from anyone approaching you inside the terminal.
- Plate colours: turquoise (airport), orange (city), black (premium D-class).
- The meter (taksimetre) must be on. Single tariff applies day and night.
- Driver pays motorway tolls — keep small TL cash to reimburse on arrival.
Apps that hail real Istanbul taxis
- BiTaksi — largest local pool, English UI, card or cash.
- Uber — calls a regular yellow Istanbul taxi (no UberX in Türkiye). Foreign cards work.
- iTaksi — official İBB municipal app, no surge pricing.
- All three charge the same metered fare. Apps don't make rides cheaper, just more trustworthy.
Cheapest way into the city
- M11 metro — IST → Gayrettepe in ~25 min, then transfer M2 to Taksim.
- M4 metro — SAW → Kadıköy in ~50 min, transfer ferry to the European side.
- Havaist & HAVABUS — 24/7 coaches with luggage racks to all major districts.
- Pay with İstanbulkart or any contactless bank card. ~₺50 per ride.
