After a long period of disuse it was restored and reopened as a hotel, with a modern wing added alongside the original palace building. The address is Çırağan Cd. No.32, Beşiktaş 34349 — a coastal road that runs along the European shore of the Bosphorus between Beşiktaş town centre and Ortaköy. Roughly 310 rooms and suites are split between the modern wing and the historic palace, the latter including the Sultan Suite whose balcony sits directly over the water.
Çırağan Palace sits opposite Yıldız Park, the former imperial garden of the late Ottoman period, whose gates are directly across Çırağan Cd. Beşiktaş town centre, its ferry pier and the Vodafone Park stadium are a fifteen-minute walk south. Ortaköy — the waterfront village under the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, with its baroque mosque and weekend market — is a ten-minute walk north along the coast. The infinity pool at the hotel's edge marks the transition between the two.
02 · From IST
The routing runs on the same trunk motorways as any Beşiktaş transfer. What differs at Çırağan is the level of service on offer and how much markup the hotel car adds.
Book the Kempinski car. It lands on the folio, requires no separate contact, and one message to the concierge is all it takes. The Rolls-Royce option adds an unmistakable arrival moment. Best if you value the branded pickup more than €80–150 saved.
Book a private transfer directly. Same Mercedes S-Class, same meet-and-greet, same drop-off at the hotel driveway — half to a third of the price. Best if you would rather redirect the difference toward Tuğra Restaurant, spa or an upgrade.
Take the metered taxi at the rank. Cheapest of the three, still door-to-door. Fine if you speak enough Turkish (or have Google Translate ready) to confirm the meter is on and the route is sensible.
03 · From SAW
SAW sits on the Asian side. To reach Çırağan the driver crosses the Bosphorus at the 15 July Martyrs Bridge — coming down directly to Beşiktaş via Barbaros Bulvarı.
04 · Meet & greet
At an ultra-luxury address, the pickup is a small piece of service theatre — done well, it is invisible; done poorly, it is the first ten minutes of the stay.
Message the driver 12–24 hours before arrival with the flight number, airport (IST or SAW), passenger name, adult count, suitcase count and preferred vehicle class. Say if a specific sign wording is needed — the default is "Çırağan Palace Kempinski — [passenger name]" printed in black on white A4, matching the Kempinski sign format used at the hotel driveway.
Live tracking of the flight status means delays, early arrivals and gate changes are handled without follow-up messages. The driver leaves for the airport timed to be at the meeting-point railings roughly ten minutes after wheels-down, factoring in the passport control queue at IST.
At IST, the meeting point is the railings directly opposite the customs exit — the driver stands to the left as you emerge, with the sign held at chest height. At SAW, it is the international arrivals meeting area on the same level as the exit. Both airports have wheelchair access from that point to the short-stay car park where the vehicle waits.
The driver takes the luggage from the trolley, walks you to the short-stay lot (~3 minutes at IST, ~2 minutes at SAW), loads bags into the boot and departs. Bottled water is standard in the cup holders. From here the drive proceeds directly to the Çırağan Cd. driveway — no meter, no toll add-ons, no re-quote at the doorman.
05 · Vehicle class
Three Mercedes body types cover essentially every arrival profile at a hotel of this class, from a couple upgrading to the Sultan Suite to a family with multiple garment bags.
The default for a couple arriving at a suite category — this is the vehicle the Kempinski car service uses as its baseline, and the closest match to the arrival level guests expect at Çırağan. Additional legroom, quieter cabin, rear-seat climate control. Sits at the upper end of the €70–130 IST band.
Full-quality Mercedes with the same meet-and-greet, sign and drop-off — at the lower end of the €70–130 IST band. Ideal when the transfer is a functional leg of the trip and the guest would rather redirect the spend toward the suite, dining or the spa.
Seven seats plus a full-height boot. The right call for three or more travellers, four or more suitcases, or the kind of luggage volume typical when the party has booked one of the palace suites — multiple cases plus garment bags plus hand carry. Also useful for a family with a car seat request.
A rear-facing infant seat, forward-facing toddler seat or booster is available on request at no extra charge, in either S-Class, E-Class or Vito. Confirm the age and weight of the child in the initial WhatsApp message so the correct seat is loaded before the driver leaves for the airport.
06 · Drop-off
The final metres are on a purpose-built hotel driveway. Traffic on the coastal road either side can be dense at evening peak.
The hotel entrance opens off Çırağan Cd. via a wide curved driveway that pulls a car right up under the porte-cochère. A doorman opens the door, valet takes the vehicle onward, and bags are handed to a bellhop at the entrance within seconds. There is no fumbling for the entrance and no crossing traffic — the driveway is designed for exactly the kind of arrival Çırağan hosts multiple times per hour.
Between roughly 17:30 and 20:00 on weekday evenings, the coastal Çırağan Cd. becomes a slow queue in both directions as commuters funnel between the two Bosphorus bridges via Beşiktaş. Factor an extra 10 minutes into the transfer if your arrival window falls inside this peak. Drivers familiar with the district know an alternative descent through Yıldız Cd. from above, which bypasses roughly two kilometres of stationary traffic and arrives directly opposite the driveway.
On occasional summer weekends the coastal road between Beşiktaş and Ortaköy is briefly closed for public events (Bosphorus Cross swim, marathons, state ceremonies). In that case the driver drops at the closest open corner — usually the Beşiktaş inönü Stadium side — and the hotel bellhop walks the short distance to collect the luggage. Sending the driver a note if you know of a planned closure lets them re-time the drop-off.
07 · Common mistakes

The Kempinski chauffeured car service is genuinely excellent — Mercedes S-Class or Rolls-Royce Phantom, billed to the room, one message to the concierge. It is not the only serious option. A directly-booked private transfer delivers the same class of Mercedes with the same meet-and-greet at roughly half to a third of the price. If the €80–150 difference matters, book direct.
Emerging from IST customs into a crowded arrivals hall to look for a driver by memory of their profile picture is a poor start to a Çırağan stay. Confirm a sign — "Çırağan Palace Kempinski — [name]" — is being held at the meeting-point railings. That single detail removes the overwhelming majority of arrival friction.
A Vito is the right call for three-plus travellers or four-plus suitcases. For a couple with two cases, though, the S-Class is a materially better arrival — quieter cabin, rear-seat climate, and the vehicle matches the standard the Kempinski car service would use. Guests occasionally over-book the vehicle class thinking they need the volume; confirm the suitcase count first.
A driver quoting "55 minutes IST → Çırağan" is quoting off-peak. Between 17:30 and 20:00 the coastal road can add ten minutes to what would otherwise be a smooth drive.
