Fast ferries sail from Yenikapı, on the Marmara shore of Istanbul's historic peninsula, across to Mudanya — Bursa's coastal town. From Mudanya, a local bus or a short taxi covers the final leg up into Bursa city. The crossing itself skips every metre of road traffic and serves up Sea of Marmara views the motorway can't match. Sailings are weather-dependent and frequencies change by season, so check the current İDO/BUDO schedules on the day rather than trusting an old timetable.
Yenikapı is in the city — from Istanbul Airport you'd first ride the metro or a taxi roughly an hour south before your sea leg even begins, with luggage in tow. That's why we frame this as the option for Bosphorus-side starts: if you're spending a few days in Sultanahmet or Beyoğlu before Bursa, walking onto the Yenikapı ferry with a day bag is a genuinely lovely way to make the hop.
